Kathrine Schmidt is Houston Bureau Chief for Energy Intelligence, joining the organization this year.

Ms Schmidt has covered oil, gas and energy extensively in the Americas, including in the US Gulf, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. Previously, Ms Schmidt led the Houston bureau at Upstream newspaper, where she also worked as a correspondent. She also spent three years covering local business and the oil industry in Louisiana.

Ms Schmidt is a graduate of Tufts University. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
