TJ Conway is a Director of Energy Intelligence Research. Key focus areas of Energy Intelligence Research include the energy transition, corporate strategy and competitor intelligence, oil and gas/LNG markets, and aboveground risk.

Mr Conway leads Energy Transition Research, delivering analysis of oil and gas companies’ exposure and responses to climate-related risks. He also leads wider research into related policy and technology trends, as well as modeling and scenario analysis of potential future demand disruption.

Mr Conway joined Energy Intelligence in 2011 and has spent his career analyzing industry trends and advising oil companies, institutional investors and other stakeholders on energy markets, opportunities and risks. He contributes to integrated coverage across other Research areas and bespoke Advisory engagements related to low-carbon technologies, market analysis and corporate strategy.

Mr Conway is also Professor of the Practice at Georgetown University, where he teaches an energy course through the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy. He serves on the executive council of Washington’s chapter of the US Association of Energy Economics.

Prior to Energy Intelligence, Mr Conway led the Latin America analysis for the Markets & Country Strategies Group at PFC Energy, focusing on national oil companies, aboveground risk and oil markets. He was a research fellow at the Inter-American Development Bank.

Mr Conway has dual degrees, in economics and philosophy, from Northwestern University, and an MS in foreign service from Georgetown University. He is fluent in English and Spanish, has a working knowledge of Portuguese and speaks basic Japanese.
