A trained petroleum economist from the University of Aberdeen, with a strong background in energy finance, he loves crunching data, running models and drawing curves to bring complex energy-related topics into shape, find hard evidence, and prop up sound market analysis.

Julien covers Europe and the Atlantic Basin for Energy Intelligence. His area of expertise includes oil market fundamentals, macroeconomic trends, pricing mechanisms and benchmarks, crude physical and derivative markets, as well as shipping economics and refining processes. He has been involved in oil and petrochemicals training, and public speaking on crude oil-related topics at several international conferences.

Julien has also trained and continues to occasionally advise the UK Cabinet Office economists on oil- and gas-related issues.
