Mike Anderson leads public policy advocacy and international government relations at Kosmos. As part of this role, he also leads the company’s climate change and environmental, social and governance agenda, drawing on his decades of experience in climate policy.

Prior to joining Kosmos in 2015, Mr Anderson served in a number of senior roles for the UK government, including the first-ever Director General for Climate Change in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), and held the same role at its successor department -- the Department of Energy and Climate Change -- from 2007-09. In these roles, Mr Anderson worked with senior ministers to formulate landmark climate change legislation, including the formation of the independent Committee on Climate Change. From 2007-11, Mr Anderson, while serving as Director General for Climate Change and as Director General for Strategy, Green Economy, Corporate Services at DEFRA from 2009-11, led strategic engagement with the private sector on climate change issues. From 2011-15 he served as a Director General at the UK’s Home Office, where he was responsible for policy and strategy, as well as oversight for Her Majesty’s Passport Office.

Mr Anderson has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the British Diplomatic Service, having served in Moscow, Geneva and New York, as well as Chief of Staff to two Chiefs of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). He has also served as Principal Private Secretary to the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice from 2003-07.

Mr Anderson studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, gaining a double first in law.
