ENERGY LEADER FOR TOMORROW 2023

Gbenga T. Awojinrin is a recent graduate of petroleum engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he served as General Secretary and E&P Team Lead for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) chapter.

He presented a paper at the 2022 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (ATCE), which won the 2022 SPE Africa Student Paper Contest. Mr Awojinrin was one of 50 students selected for the 2023 International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) Energy Education Program in Bangkok, Thailand and was recognized as one of four outstanding student delegates at the conference. He captains his school’s PetroBowl team and will represent the SPE Africa Region in San Antonio, Texas, at the 2023 PetroBowl competition.

Mr Awojinrin’s research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and energy, and he hopes to pursue career paths that challenge him to be at the forefront of carbon capture and storage and sustainability advancement.
