Dr Jennifer Holmgren is Chief Executive Officer of revolutionary carbon recycling company LanzaTech. LanzaTech is working to develop a variety of platform chemicals and fuels, including the world’s first alternative jet fuel derived from industrial waste gases. Dr Holmgren is also a Director and the Chair of the LanzaJet board of directors. Prior to joining LanzaTech, she was Vice President and General Manager of the Renewable Energy and Chemicals business unit at UOP, a Honeywell Company. She was one of the key drivers of UOP’s leadership in low-carbon aviation biofuels.
Dr Holmgren is the author or co-author of 50 US patents and more than 30 scientific publications, and an Academy of Engineering member. Dr Holmgren has received numerous awards over her career, including being the first woman awarded the Malcolm E. Pruitt Award from the Council for Chemical Research in 2003. In 2021, she received the Edison Achievement Award for making a significant and lasting contribution to the world of innovation, and the Prix Voltaire Award from the Prix Voltaire International Foundation. In 2022, she was included in ICIS’ Top 40 Power Players ranking.
Dr Holmgren sits on several advisory councils and boards of directors, including for the Andlinger Center for Energy, the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Nature’s Fynd, and the Governing Council for the Bio Energy Research Institute in India.
Dr Holmgren has an honorary doctorate from Delft University of Technology. She holds a BSc degree from Harvey Mudd College, a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
