Dr Andreas Krieg is an associate professor at the School of Security Studies and fellow at the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies at King’s College London. He has been seconded to the Global Strategy Program at the Royal College of Defence Studies since 2018. In his research he has specialized in understanding the evolving symbiotic relationship between state and non-state actors in a world of networked statecraft.
Dr Krieg has lived in and worked on the Middle East for two decades and has developed a regional subject matter expertise. He has been involved in professional military and diplomatic education of strategic leaders for 15 years, at the UK Defence Academy, the Royal College of Defence Studies, Qatar’s National Defence College and other staff colleges around the world.
Dr Krieg is a sought-after commentator in print and broadcast media for matters of strategic influence, statecraft and regional security. He has also worked extensively as an advisor and consultant for the private sector and government on security and risks in the MENA region. In 2019 he founded the London-based risk consultancy firm MENA analytica providing bespoke risk products to a diverse range of clients.
