As BP’s Chief Executive Officer, appointed in January 2024, Murray Auchincloss leads BP’s strategy – to transition BP from an international oil company to an integrated energy company.
Mr Auchincloss is the fourth generation of his family to work in energy, joining Amoco in 1992 and then BP, when the two companies merged in 1998. He has held senior roles in finance and management, including Chief of Staff to the BP Chief Executive Officer from 2010 to 2013. Most recently, Mr Auchincloss has been BP’s Chief Financial Officer and a member of the board of directors. As Chief Financial Officer, he led a major modernization drive in BP finance, including building the financial frame on which BP’s strategy rests. He is also a member of the board of directors for Aker BP ASA, Norway.
Mr Auchincloss has a degree in commerce from the University of Calgary, Canada, and qualified as a chartered financial analyst at the University of West Virginia, US.
