After graduating in engineering from Cambridge University, Andy Brown enjoyed a 35-year international career with Shell, living in seven countries. Mr Brown led Shell back into Qatar in 2003 and led the delivery of Pearl GTL and Qatargas 4 through start-up. During his last seven years at Shell, he served on the Executive Committee as both Upstream International and Upstream Director.

After leaving Shell, Mr Brown took on a portfolio of roles including Vice Chairman of SBM, Senior Adviser to McKinsey and Adviser to ZeroAvia.

In 2021 and 2022, Mr Brown was Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of Galp, a Portuguese integrated energy company, where he focused on the transformation of the company to thrive through the energy transition.

Mr Brown joined the Board of Ørsted and the Energy Institute in 2023. In November 2023, he served for five months as Interim COO Ørsted. He is now Vice Chair Ørsted. He was appointed President of the Energy Institute in July 2024.

Mr Brown is married with four children and four grandchildren; he enjoys golf, padel, skiing and hiking. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2012.
