Andrew Barr is President of Hitachi Group’s Regional Headquarters for EMEA. He is passionate about the systemic changes needed to social infrastructure in order to meet net zero.

Hitachi is a leading global company who over the last decade has re-positioned its business to drive Social Innovation. It's aim is to become a climate change innovator, helping Governments, Cities and its customers cut carbon.

Mr Barr is responsible for Hitachi’s growth in EMEA, now the largest region in Hitachi’s business outside of Japan, which has been on the leading edge of the company’s global transformation.

Hitachi has recently completed large acquisitions including ABB Power Grids business (now Hitachi Energy) in 2020 for $11 bn, Global Logic in 2021 for $9.6 bn and most recently in 2024, Thales Ground Transportation Systems for $1.8bn.

Mr Barr has worked for Hitachi for 20 years. His last role before taking over as President of Hitachi Europe was Group CEO of Hitachi Rail where he oversaw the integration of several business and spearheaded the growth, including the acquisition of Thales GTS.
