Alex Martinos joined the Sustainability, Technology and Outlooks team at the International Energy Agency in April 2024, where he works on analysis for the World Energy Outlook and other major publications. He was lead author of the Global Energy Review 2025 and a lead author of the Special Report on Energy and AI. Prior to this, Alex worked for 11 years at Energy Intelligence in London, including as Director of Energy Transition Research, leading analysis of topics ranging from EVs, hydrogen and CCUS to scenarios and outlooks. He has previous experience covering the global energy sector in consulting, finance and journalism. He holds degrees from the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics and Yale University.
